Hey Mom! Jack Frost came all over the yard!

That's right, more snow here in Mama land.  It's a heavy snow with ice underneath, quite useful for falling and busting your tailbone or pulling every blessed vertebrae in your back out of line as you try to shovel out.  At least it was pretty, before the dog/cats/kids got to it:

 Umm, speaking of animals ...
I went downstairs to switch laundry yesterday, and smelled the lovely smell of cat poop on my floor.  AGAIN.  And Tobey had also peed in the corner.  I had just cleaned out their box the day before and put down new litter, I was pissed!  Cleaned up while cursing her out, then was on FB a while later and updated my status to "Dear cats : we really need to talk about this whole 'you being alive' thing, and how inconvenient it is.  I'm sick of cleaning up poop when your litterbox is clean!"
Mister worked last night til 2 in the morning.  I woke up at 5:15 thinking I was hearing Butterbean, closed our bedroom door, but didn't hear anything.  Went out to the couch and curled up under a blanket to try and sneak in some more sleep.  Then I hear "Mewwerrrrrr!!!  Mwerrr!" I thought the cats were fighting and went downstairs to tell them to knock it off.  I couldn't find either of them downstairs, then heard the sound again coming from behind the couch.  I looked back and Tobey was hunched over and sort of growling - I went to get her and she nipped at my hand.  She quieted down and I figured she was just working out a hairball.  Went back upstairs, curled up, fell back asleep.
When the anklebiters woke up at 7:00 I went downstairs to check on her.  Still in the same position.  Still.  I couldn't quite reach her so I poked her with a ruler - she didn't move.

So the Mister woke up to, "Hey - Tobey's dead.  I have to get to work so can you go get her out from behind the couch and decide what the hell we're going to do with a cat corpse when there's 10 inches of snow on the ground?"

He requested that I be very careful about what I say about him from now on.  One friend is calling me Tituba and my sister keeps IM'ing me to say, "She's a WITCH!!!!"

  1. Sometimes that happens. Not in the "I say it and it happens" way, but in the "I feel it coming, so I say something about it" way. I had something like that happening this week with a horrible crime that was all over the media a few months ago... I started thinking about it, in the ways of "How long until they finally catch that guy?", and three days later they got him. (It would be lovely to think my thinking did that, but in that case we'd also have a dozen dead colleagues this week...)

  2. Diandra, happens to me all. the. time. Like thinking about some obscure early 80's song that I haven't heard for years a minute before it comes on the radio, or the phone rings and without looking at the caller ID I know who it is.
